4th March 2015, Jakarta - The Habibie Center (THC), founded by former President B.J. Habibie, hosted the launch of the Earth Security Index 2015 in Indonesia.

Further to the event, the centre's ASEAN program, which provides a high-level research and convening fora for policy-makers in the region, will be using the Earth Security report's blueprint on transboundary haze in South East Asia in its support to ASEAN policy-makers. The event opened with a presentation of the 2015 report by Earth Security CEO Alejandro Litovsky, which focused on the opportunities to advance more strategic cooperation of companies in the palm oil, timber and pulp and paper sectors with policy-makers across the ASEAN region. The discussion was echoed by the Indonesian national newspaper Kompas Daily.

Rahimah 'Ima' Abdulrahim, Executive Director of The Habibie Center said: "Transboundary haze resulting from illegal forest fires is a major challenge to Southeast Asia’s integration. The 2015 Earth Security Index provides companies and policy-makers with a common understanding of the complex interconnectivity of causes, and the proactive role that financial markets can play in supporting zero-deforestation. Earth Security's practical understanding of how to improve business and policy coordination, and bring innovation to the stock exchanges of Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia, provide a strategic direction for ASEAN’s 2015 integration process.”
